    After the death of his father and brothers, Eduard Strauss dismantled the
    family orchestra and burned much of the original Strauss archives. In doing
    so, he allegedly fulfilled a pact with his brothers that whoever outlived
    the others was to protect the family’s works against plagiarism at all
    costs.
